As if there weren’t already enough things to look for when buying comics, now you have to look at the cover price too! Price variants are extremely rare copies of books, (Typically 1000 printed), and usually from the late 70s.
When Marvel wasn’t sure about raising the cover price of a comic, they would choose a certain market in the U.S. and try books with a slightly higher cover price to see if they would sell. If they did, the price would be permanently changed for (pretty much) The entirety of Marvel’s Catalog. The most notable price variant is definitely Star Wars 1, but don’t be fooled by reprints!
